Abstract

The construction of a national identity responds to the interests determined by the State and the ruling class in each era. In the Argentine case, the national identity that has been built, largely during the 19th century, is due to the creation of one in opposition to others, such as those of the Original Peoples preexisting to the Argentine State. The data obtained from a questionnaire offer us an overview of what the students think about the subject based on the treatment the digital press makes. We are interested in knowing what the student learns from a multicultural classroom when the concept of nationalism is addressed and it is worked in relation to the migratory movements in our country. This line of research allows us to know what the student thinks about recent issues / problems, which can be studied if we want to generate meaningful learning about history. We understand that it is a good exercise to look for -as teachers and professors- those more powerful concepts, strategies and resources that allow us to orient the purposes to contribute to the construction of critical and historical thinking in the students.
