Abstract

Review of the doctoral thesis by Arasy González Milea, defended at the University of Málaga in 2023 and awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize. The research addresses the development of Critical Literacy in initial teacher training for Early Childhood Education through a qualitative study with 71 students. Its main contributions include the systematization of ten specific pedagogical practices for developing Critical Literacy in early childhood and the analysis of the political and ideological dimension of education, questioning the construct of teacher neutrality. The work reveals the paradox between students' ability to design didactic proposals and the difficulty in transforming their genuine critical positioning.
