Abstract

The area of Social Sciences Teaching has been consolidated in our country as an autonomous area of knowledge, with its own entity, which continues to grow in the volume and quality of its research. The proof of this is the trajectory of more than three decades and the significant increase in the scientific works published in recent years. These research have been published in scientific journals, compilation books or conference proceedings, and have also been defended as theses that have investigated various problems of study. As a consequence of the increase in contributions, we consider it pertinent to elaborate a status of the issue which will resituate the research in the area and open up new perspectives for study. Starting from it, we analyze with a double methodological perspective, quantitative and qualitative, the contributions presented to the last Symposium of the University Association of Teaching of Social Sciences Teaching (AUPDCS), entitled: “Looking for ways to teach: research to innovate in Didactics of the Social Sciences”, which took place in March 2018 at the University of Valladolid. Our objective has been to know if these contributions give continuity to the usual lines of research that have been worked in the area, or if, on the contrary, they break with them, investigating new topics. The analysis carried out shows, among other aspects, the increase in novel research and studies that focus on educational stages unknown until now.
