Proceso de revisión por pares

Details of the Review Process

Submitted works will be reviewed by at least two external reviewers, who will always be individuals of recognised prestige in the subject matter addressed by the manuscripts.

Precautions will be taken to ensure that reviewers are not affiliated with the same university as the author, have not supervised the author’s doctoral thesis, and are not members of the same research group or project.

A double-blind review process will be used, meaning that the identities of the authors and reviewers will be unknown to both parties.

Reviewers, adhering to the specifications outlined in the Reviewers’ Guidelines, will issue a report by completing the Evaluation Form.

The selection of reviewers is the responsibility of the journal’s Editors, who take into account the reviewers’ academic, scientific merits and professional experience, including both national and international specialists. Members of the Advisory Committee may also serve as reviewers.

Steps of the Editorial Process

All works submitted to the Journal’s Editorial Office will be acknowledged within a maximum of 5 days.

All submitted articles will undergo a two-step evaluation process:

  • Internal or Preliminary Evaluation: During this phase, the Editorial Team will check whether the submission adheres to the style guidelines, determine if its content aligns with REIDICS’s thematic focus, and evaluate its content. At this stage, the author may be advised to make certain changes before proceeding to the external review phase. Editors will have 15 days to issue this report.
  • External Evaluation or Peer Review (Double-Blind System): Once it has been established that the manuscript meets the formal and thematic requirements, it will be sent to at least two peers, who, following the guidelines in the Peer Review Guidelines, will issue a report by completing the Evaluation Form. In the case of conflicting opinions and/or if deemed appropriate, a third opinion will be requested. External reviewers will have 30 days to complete this evaluation.

If the text is rejected, the authors will be notified of the outcome, along with the corresponding evaluations. If the text is accepted or requires revisions, the authors will be informed, along with the evaluations, and will have 15 calendar days in each phase of the evaluation to submit the revised text. If the decision is subject to modifications, the authors must also submit a detailed report outlining the changes made to the manuscript, addressing the suggestions of the associate editors and peers.

Once the text has been accepted, the final version will be sent to the authors in PDF format, and they will have 5 days to review it. Authors may submit a report of any final changes, which should mainly focus on formatting and possible typographical errors.

Once the editorial process is complete, the texts will be archived, and the final order will be decided when the issue is ready for publication.

Criteria for Accepting Works

The factors underlying the decision to accept or reject works by the journal’s editors are as follows:

  1. The originality, novelty, and relevance of the research conducted, as well as its significance for Social Sciences Education.
  2. The significance of the research for scientific and social advancement.
  3. The scientific reliability and validity of both the sources consulted and the methods employed in the research.
  4. The appropriate writing, logical organisation, and material presentation of the manuscript.
